It’s shapes week and we’ve been very busy learning about shapes. I added a printable shapes booklet yesterday and here’s how I used it in our home classroom:
This is our classroom.
One of our walls is painted with chalkboard paint.
This is the Shapes Booklet Printable in action. I printed it and put it in a flip file.
We read the name of the shapes aloud.
We traced the outline of the shape with our fingers and he drew the outline with a wipe away marker. If your child is more advanced then they could cut out the shape.
We outlined the shapes with building blocks. Playdoh is a great alternative.
He traced the outline of the shapes with his car.
He said the names of the shapes while using flashcards. He also matched the flashcard to the shape. when applicable.
He played with his foam shape puzzle that we got from the dollar store.
He went digging for shapes in a sensory bin.
And we had Star Sandwiches for lunch.
I hope you enjoyed this post on how to implement shapes in your own homeschooling.
