Liebster Blog Award

I can hardly believe that I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award! It coincides with my 100th post and 100th follower. I’m so grateful and humbled by everyone who follows and reads my blog. I appreciate you.

Thank you Niki from The Richness of a Simple Life for nominating me for this Liebster Award, you’re an amazing and dedicated mother and wife. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. You inspire me daily.

Liebster Award Badge.Jpg

  1. What did you write before you started blogging? (Journal, short stories, nothing…)

I’ve been writing and self-publishing children’s books on Amazon for almost a year now.

  1. Who did you first share your blog with?

No one; to be completely honest. My partner knows I have a blog, but I don’t think he’s ever read a post. I’m a private person when it comes to my plans or what I’m going to do next. I’ve been toying with the idea of blogging for a few years now and decided to take a leap of faith.

  1. Who do you hope reads your blog most or who do you hope doesn’t? (Be sure to specify which you answer!;) )

I hope anyone who can gain knowledge, have a laugh, relate or buy one of my books would read my blog. Home, Hugs and Huskies has a bit of everything so dog owners, writers, bloggers, illustrators, parents, home schoolers and people who like to cook can relate.

  1. How long do you typically spend creating a post from start to publish?

This is a tough one to answer, because it depends on the post. Something like Teaching Thursday or Freebie Friday can take a few days to draw, edit and post the free printables. Other posts like the ones on Siberian Saturday or Sketching Sunday can take at least one to two hours.

  1. Do you secretly hope for a post to go viral? Why or why not?

I suppose I do to some extent. I’d like my writing or blog posts to reach more people and hopefully add to their lives in a positive ways.

  1. What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

Don’t waste your tears on dumb guys that don’t appreciate your worth. Someone better is going to come along.

  1. What takes smell takes you straight back to your childhood?

Cabbage stew! My grandmother used to make this awesome cabbage stew that no one can replicate after her passing. She used minimal ingredients, but it tasted so good. My mouth is watering, just thinking about it.

  1. If you had to move today, no questions asked to another country, which would it be and why?

We’ve always fantasised about packing all our belongings and moving to a cottage in the countryside. There’s just something magical about being surrounded by canals. It is also central enough to travel elsewhere in Europe quite easily. I see myself writing by the fire with the dogs lying at my feet, Mr reading his paper on a nearby sofa and the kids giggling in the distance.

  1. If you could live in any time period (other than the present) what would it be and why?

I’d probably choose the 1960’s. I identify with the fashion and music. This was also an interesting time for politics and women’s rights.

  1. If a movie were to be made about your life, what would it be called and who would play you in the movie?

It would be called The Write Life. I’d probably want Lindsay Lohan to play me, but the Mean Girls Lindsay Lohan. I love that movie.

Here are my ten nominees for the Liebster Blog Award (in no particular order). Don’t worry if you aren’t into awards, I still think you are awesome anyway and people should check out your blog. Feel free to check out the rules below for more information.

    1. Hi Niki. How’s your day going so far? Thanks again for the nomination and the great questions. I was trying to be as honest as possible and I’m so glad that you could learn a bit more about me. I had no idea you loved Dwayne Johnson so much (who doesn’t?) :). Your meet and greets have definitely helped me along on my blogging journey.

I’m so glad you like the images. I designed them, that’s why I took so long to post this. 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful day with your family. ❤

      1. It’s going great! I’m off today and tomorrow for the Easter holiday so I’m enjoying live blogging instead of scheduling a post out, something I haven’t done in a while!

I appreciate that, it makes the experience so much more personal as a reader. Oh my gosh, I am in lust with that man!

I’m so glad to hear that! I am always a bit self conscious about the meet and greets but I have so much fun and I always get feedback on them so I’ll continue to do them unless they are no longer desired (hopefully that day never comes!).

They are beautiful! I didn’t think I had seen them when I was looking! They are absolutely gorgeous! I wish I knew how to do that! Sometimes I spend more time looking for an image that is similar to what I picture in my minds’s eye than writing most of the time.

Thank you, you as well Lindsay 🙂

      2. We’re off to my mom’s for Good Friday Lunch, that will probably turn into an all day affair. Please continue with Meet and Greets, they are such a wonderful way to meet other bloggers. I agree with you on spending lots of time looking for a similar image to what I want. I love making my own images and printables. Sometimes I wish I had a good camera and photography skills to take the photos I want and post them – maybe one day. Have a lovely Easter weekend with your family. 🙂

      3. Yes! Now that I’m more serious about blogging, I won’t object to my husband insisting on getting me a nice camera for a present, until now my camera on my phone has sufficed but it might be time…

Enjoy your Good Friday family gathering!

      4. Hehe. Mr calls himself the WordPress Widower. I actually use his phone to take images, I have no time or appetite for fancy phones (Even my gran has a smartphone), so I’m sure he’ll appreciate it if I got a camera and took a photography course or two.

      5. hahahaha maybe we should start a support group! All of the things spouses of bloggers have to deal with, no you are not alone! hahaha I have a smart phone but only because the camera is better than older phones. I don’t use it for half of what it can be used for. Photos and basic navigating, otherwise I’d rather be on my laptop blogging 😮

      6. hahaha I had been telling my hubby to get on for ages but of course all he saw was my boards and couldn’t understand the appeal with all of the crafting and to do projects. I finally showed him more and he’s quickly climbing in followers lol. Typical guy with his cars boards and the like. 🙂

  2. Reblogged this on The Richness of a Simple Life and commented:
I love the images Lindsay used for her acceptance post! She answers the questions with such honestly that makes it so engaging. Thank you for accepting Lindsay, I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know you better. I know awards aren’t everyone’s “thing” but what I love about awards like this is that they aren’t a competition. It is about your fellow bloggers showing their love for your craft and that is worth celebrating! Thanks again Lindsay!

If you want to see how the trail lead to her read my acceptance post for the nomination. To see where it continues, check out the blogs Lindsay nominated. Who knows what blogs you’ll discover by following the trail!
