Pizza and wine night has become a Saturday tradition for us. It’s a way for Mr and I to connect with each other and spend time together without needing to get out of the house. These nights will become extra enjoyable now that winter is on its way.
It starts early on Saturday morning when I begin making the pizza dough so that it has more than enough time to rise. We head to the shops later in the afternoon from pizza toppings and wine. We discuss what we would like to eat this week, but the wine is usually purchased on a whim. This is because Mr enjoys white wine and I prefer red. Toppings and wine in tow, we head home to complete the cooking. Mr helps me by chopping some of the ingredients or grating the cheese while I roll the dough.
Soon the pizzas are complete and we enjoy a peaceful night on the couch watching movies until late.
This stay date can be done after the Little One sleeps or if he is at his grandparents for the day.
It’s great to wind down and discuss things we wouldn’t get to during the week. No phones, no laptops, no social media, no blogging, just us. It is in doing nothing that we get to talk about everything.
What’s your equivalent to pizza and wine night? Let me know by commenting below!
Love and Blessings,
A great way of finding something to do with each other and enjoying each other’s company. Nice! We do something similar on Friday evenings.

Sitting outside with a glass of red. Hubby smokes a cigar. Together is important.

Sounds wonderful Lindsay. 🙂
We used to do this often when the kids were little. Quality time for hubbs and I having pizza and wine (and movies) on a Friday night. Now we do it as a family and it’s different, but just as good. We also have our occasional date nights out, just him and I, which I love, especially when we go out for Thai! 🙂

As the children grow older I’m sure we’ll be enjoying more family nights together. Mr loves Thai food, I’m sure that would be all we’d eat if it were up to him 🙂

Haha Our kids love Thai food now too so that also makes for a great Friday night cheap eat at home with Thai takeaway. 🙂

I love all the flavours. The smell has me hooked before I’ve taken a bite.

We still do pizza on Friday night’s and I’m so pleased to see that my oldest son and DDIL have started the tradition on Fridays with their 3 year old, watching a family movie together after!

I’m hoping that it becomes a family tradition for us too. 🙂

Our stay date usually happens in the morning over coffee before the rest of the world wakes up. It’s peaceful, quiet and we both are early risers. Just a good time for us to catch up.

Stay date, pizza and wine, sounds like a plan that needs to happen in my household. What is so cool is that you actually make the dough and then it like a joint effort to get the pizza happening. 🙂 I am with you on the red wine !
My hubby and I have a date night, once a month, that is where we go out to a restaurant for dinner, We have three restaurants that we like (steak, thai and sushi) and each month will go to one of them. x

Your date sounds delightful! Red just tastes better. I found one that he really likes so I might be able to convert him 🙂

We have such different work schedules and neither of us is off on a weekend. But Thursday is our day. Once in a while we will go to a matinee’ and there will be just us in the theater, but most of the time Thursday is when we catch up on all of our shows we’ve missed during the week. We lock the door and pull the drapes closed, order pizza and binge watch our Game of Thrones or movies we’ve not watched yet. No phones allowed!

We have a theater nearby, but I’ve never thought of going for a mantinee’. We love binge watching a week’s worth of tv.

Being retired every night is date night but at our age it’s a light meal (most of the time) or dinner out, most times by the ocean. We live in South Florida so that’s a no brainer. We don’t think of it as date night, just a continuous vacation. :o)
