Week 3 and Week 4 Kindness Challenge Reflection

Week 3 and 4 Kindness Challenge Reflection Post

I know this is about two weeks late, but better late than never. I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while, but I’ve been really busy with the monster tasks of overhauling all my Jungle Myths and Tales images simultaneously. So I’ve finally block booked some time to complete my reflection post.

Week 3: Focus on Being Kind to Others

I’m fairly good at being kind to others; it’s being kind to myself that’s the problem. The easiest way for me to be kind is to greet. I greet anyone from a CEO to a toilet cleaner. Everyone deserves respect and acknowledgement. I complimented others and listened to what they had to say.

Kindness Quote 1.jpg

I didn’t give in or engage in negative thoughts or words. If I had nothing nice to say, I wouldn’t say it at all. My kindness didn’t end with strangers. I called my grandmother and aunt, which I haven’t done in a long time. I complimented my mom on her new hairstyle and clothing and spent more time with Mr. Being kind to them made me feel good and that’s how I should feel all the time. I love being kind to others.

Week 4: Do Something Kind for Someone

We had two major acts of kindness this week. We always give the petrol attendant a tip for filling up our fuel, wiping our windscreen and all round positive attitude. I often imagine that the petrol attendant would use it to buy a loaf of bread, catch a taxi or buy some airtime to call a loved one. Fact of the matter is that it’s their money and what they choose to do with it is their prerogative. I must admit that it feels good to give.

Kindness Quotes 3

The second act of kindness happened on Sunday night. We stopped at our local store and a beggar was stationed outside with a shopping cart of his possessions in hand. Mr got out of the car, chatted to the man for a second and entered the store. I stayed in the car, because the Little One was asleep in his car seat. I watched this man beg and plead as passer-by’s ignored him outright, till he seemed to lose hope. My heart broke for this man. ‘Why won’t anyone help?’ I thought angrily. Mr seemed to be in the store for a long time at this point. ‘If no one buys a bread for this man I have to do it’, I thought. Mr came out of the store…‘Here’s my moment’, but Mr had other plans. He exited the store with a French loaf, viennas (hot dogs) and a drink for the homeless man. This act of kindness literally brought me to tears. I couldn’t believe that he did exactly what I was thinking in the car. The man was so happy that he left the shop, shopping cart in tow. I hope he enjoyed his dinner.

That’s my Kindness Challenge update.

I hope all participants of this challenge are having a positive experience so far. It’s so easy to be kind.

  1. I’ve missed you! I didn’t want to feel like I was pressuring you so I didn’t say anything but I missed reading your reflections 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing this! What a great couple of weeks! I love how doing something kind for someone else makes you feel so good as well! Kindness impacts everyone it touches! ❤ It's funny because it's been so long since I've been involved in a gossip type situation that it doesn't even cross my mind. That's a very good point though to stay away from that type of conversation. No good comes from that and it's not uplifting anyone or resolving anything. How amazing that your Mr. was on the same wavelength! Enjoy your day with your little cutie!

    1. Completing the images for my books have taken WAY longer than I expected. I’ve been beating myself up about posting the reflections and I’m so glad I did. I agree! I’m loving this challenge so far. I can’t believe how syncronised Mr and I are. Maybe all my Kindness Challenge talk is rubbing off on him too. Enjoy your day too. Love to your girls ❤

  2. I found you through the Kindness Challenge and have enjoyed several of your posts. It’s true – we take so much for granted – the ease at which we can go into a grocery store and purchase whatever we want or need. That we have a safe, warm (or cool) place to sleep and be with loved ones. Thanks for the reminder that simple acts of kindness (for us to give to others) are all around us. Have a good week! http://www.dianeweidenbenner.com

  3. What a wonderful post Lindsay and how special that you and your man are on the same wavelength – both of you are such kind souls. Isn’t it amazing how the smallest acts can have the biggest effects. There can never be too much kindness in this world. Thank you for spreading so much in your life and through your blog. xo

      1. You’re welcome but I feel a bit like a bit of a neglectful friend lately. Life’s been so busy I feel I never have enough time to read everything I want to read …
