How To Dye Rice For Sensory Play

Throwback Thursday: How to dye rice for sensory play. This was written in the early days of my blog and I still have the rice today.

2 Cups of rice (White and uncooked)

1 teaspoon (t) white vinegar

A few drops of food colouring

A few drops of vanilla essence (optional)

A Ziploc bag or sealable lunch box

What to do:

Place the rice into the Ziploc bag or lunch box.

Add the vinegar, food colouring and vanilla essence. (The more colouring you add the darker the rice will become. You can substitute the vanilla essence with any scent you prefer.)

Seal the Ziploc bag or lunch box and shake till all of the rice is covered.

Lay the rice on a tray (I used an old foam punnet) and let it dry for a few hours.

Notes:

The more colouring you add the darker the rice will become.

Vanilla essence can be left out completely…
