I’m quite excited to write and share this post with you. I’m quite birthday obsessed as you may have read in Giraffe House First Birthday Party and The Birthday Party That Wasn’t.
So I when my step daughter’s birthday came around earlier this month I had to celebrate it in some way. She is living with her mother in another State, but I was able to courier her a gift box via Postnet. It costs R99 to courier anything within 0KG – 5KG counter to counter.
It was her tenth birthday and I must admit that I struggled to buy a gift for her age so I decided to put together a few of her favourite items and I’m so glad that I did!
So here’s what I included in her gift box:
- Stickers
- Colourful Gel Pens
- A glitter notebook
- Post-it notes
- Hair elastics
- Nailpolish
- Nail stickers
- Nail jewels
- Nailpolish remover
- Cotton wool
- Nail buffer
- Toe separators
- Nail clipper
- Nail file
- Pocket Mirror
- Sunglasses
- Lip gloss
- Bath Flower Sponge
- Sweets
- Cookies
- 2 Pairs of fluffy socks
- Tattoo gel pens
- Jewellery tattoos
- A Choker
Other items you could include:
- A magazine
- A book
- Notepad
- Stationery
- Item of clothing
- Pair of shoes
- Lotion
- Bubble Bath
- Earrings
I made these really cool fluffy sock milkshakes/ cupcakes/ice creams as well.
You will need:
2 paper cups
1 pair of fluffy socks
1 set of toe dividers
2 nailpolishes
2 plastic bags
Some ribbon for tying
Instructions:
Lay the socks on a flat surface and place the nailpolish on the toe end.
Roll the nailpolish and socks until you reach the opposite end.
Place it in the paper cup.
Stick the toe divider on the side.
Package the milkshakes in a plastic or cellophane bag and tie with a ribbon.
Here are a few more photos of the items:
The final product:
This maskes an excellent birthday and Christmas present for a tween girl.

Yes, it was more difficult than I anticipated. I wasn’t sure if she still plays with toys or dolls anymore either so this was a better option by far.

Thank you. It’s something most girls would like. I would like to make a stationery themed one for her for Christmas, because the new school year commences soon after that in South Africa.

My sister and her family just moved back to the States after living in Zambia for 3 years. My niece was in an American school, though, so they were on our academic schedule. 🙂
