My Best Day as a Stepmom

My journey as a stepmom has been filled with more highs than lows. I’ve found that the older she gets, the stronger our relationship grows.

She returned from school with a letter for me. I thought that one of her friends had written it for me, because they would send artworks and notes with her after school. A letter from her was so unexpected, but so wonderful.

She wrote:

To: Lindsay

You are the best, you are very talented and you are the best person ever.

Thank you for being there.

  1. Aw, I bet that just filled your heart. Being a stepmom is hard work. Now that my own step daughter is 10 (I came into her life before she was 3yrs old), I find it harder to connect. Myabe it’s the pre-teen stage. I am thinking about gifting her a monthly “girl date” for just her and I for the new year. Once a month just she and I (so she has my undivided attention and is not competing with her baby sister) go do something together, even if it’s just hot cocoa, browsing the book store, etc…

    1. Sounds like an excellent idea and I totally know what you mean. Mine is also ten, but we don’t live together anymore. So I only see her in the holidays. I find it harder to connect on a daily basis, but it’s as if things haven’t changed when we are together. Lots of love to you <3.
